Just Like Jupiter

Broke out on Sunday harbour bound, rode the red wave through the night
Said Hello to St Malo, with morning’s first light
At blistering pace hit town by noon, much to our surprise
So steed and rider took the chance for comfort overnight
The sense of trepidation
As we left the station
Early the next day
Became a living hell
As we reached La Rochelle
Wind and rain driving in my face
The rain stopped and the sun broke through, as we cruised down the Garonne
Found ourselves in good company, on the place de revolution
One long night in the room of kings, set us up for the race
Late afternoon the plains gave way, to a more familiar place
Grounded by temptation
A maverick’s vacation
We stayed the summer through
The streets, the bridge the Capitole
We ended up with nothing left, Toulouse
Riding over mountains and milestones
Watching the scenery burn
Think of me just like Jupiter
I’ll see you when I return
October came the days had cooled, thoughts turned to one last push
To reach the coast at Bilbao before it got to dusk
Chased the shadow of the Pyrenees, all the way to the borderline
On to the city of the artisan, speaking words I couldn’t recognise
Perpetual emotion
As we set off across the ocean
With just a dollar for the night
With Jupiter at rest
Alone with the sunset
Searching for fins until last light
Riding over mountains and milestones
Watching the scenery burn
Think of me just like Jupiter
I’ll see you when I return, return

How Do I Know?

How Do I Know?
It's complicated, the way we interact
I must have missed the memo, setting out the rules
Unsophisticated, I'm sure I'm not alone
Always ending up, like awkward looking fools
My failure to understand, could I just shake your hand?
How do I know what to do?
Self-conscious and uneasy, standing right in front of you
How do I know how to be?
It's difficult to embrace, such complexity
The art of social etiquette remains a mystery to me
Uninitiated, we're woefully informed
But clarifying in advance, is strictly taboo
With trepidation, I lean in from the left
Only to find that, you've lent in left too
I'm all for being concise, a simple nod would suffice
How do I know what to do?
Self-conscious and uneasy, standing right in front of you
How do I know how to be?
It's difficult to embrace, such complexity
The art of social etiquette remains a mystery to me
Everyone needs comforting
Don't get the wrong idea
It's not that I'm cold hearted
My temperature's unclear
(I) could hold new acquaintances I've just met
Just not yet
How do I know what to do?
Self-conscious and uneasy, standing right in front of you
How do I know how to be?
It's difficult to embrace, such complexity
The art of social etiquette remains a mystery to me

The Z-Word

The Z word
I’ve seen almost every film, by George A Romero
I've watched season 5 of the walking dead, and that BBC3 show
I think I'm quite prepared, albeit a bit scared
But I, know what to do
News reports on TV with, decreasing frequency
But we've still got ITV2. Sad but it's true...
It's just another apocalypse
Don't mention the Z word again
Our prospects, aren't looking good
I'm not feel,ing like I should
But I really don't like to complain
It really is in-convenient, but I should get out of here
I ought to hold up in a shopping mall, that seems like a good idea
I'd drive up the M5, attempting to survive
But that's, too far from you
Pick you up in my car, but might not get that far
So Tescos'll have to do. Will have to do...
It's just another apocalypse
Don't mention the Z word again
Our prospects, aren't looking good
I'm not feel,ing like I should
But I really don't like to complain
Shaun of the dead is on TV again
We've managed to made it to Lidl, not our original plan
We've got enough food for 46 years, but mostly just lentils and spam
My life seems just the same, now even more mundane
I feel, there's nothing to lose
I think I'd rather be, roaming around and free
To eat anything I choose. Anyone I choose...
It's just another apocalypse
Don't mention the Z word again
Our prospects, aren't looking good
I'm not feel,ing like I should
But I really don't like to complain
Although I'm in considerable pain
Shaun of the dead is on TV again
My attention is starting to wane

Love Like Tsunami

Love Like Tsunami
Hello Stranger, long time no hear
How did it go from a week to a month to a year
Takes me back to when all you saw was me
And I felt your love like a tsunami
Summer left me so high and dry
No one told me that the wave subsides
My heart my house like forest fire
While you buy lingerie for someone else’s eyes
We’re miles apart with a closed stripway
You’re being blunt but your words are blades
In just two weeks you’ll give it all away
But it’ll take a lifetime to see your tears of pain
But then Friday’s rush turns to Sunday’s crash
as reality sets in
